Everyone can start a business, but that doesn’t mean everyone has what it takes to be successful at it. If you are tired of working your 9-5 job, you may have considered the path to entrepreneurship at one time or another. But, do you actually have what it takes to be an entrepreneur? While some people may think they were born to be an entrepreneur, others may be interested, but aren’t sure if they are cut out for it. These 5 signs will help you figure out if entrepreneurship is the right choice for you!

YOU ARE SELF-MOTIVATED

As an entrepreneur, you won’t have a boss to report to anymore. Instead, you will have to be self-motivated and willing to work hard, even if that means sacrificing your weekends or evenings. You must be able to set and keep your own deadlines, as no one else will be holding you accountable – except perhaps your clients or customers. Being able to thrive in a position that lacks the structure of a traditional job is crucial if you want to be a successful entrepreneur.

YOU AREN’T AFRAID TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

The ability to think outside of the box is what transforms normal entrepreneurs into successful entrepreneurs. These people are able to come up with new and creative solutions to solve ordinary problems, which sets them apart from everyone else in the industry. While less than half of the population considers themselves to be creative thinkers, a large majority of entrepreneurs feel like they have the ability to think creatively. Possessing this unique ability is sure to help you stand out!

YOU DON’T MIND STEPPING OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Entrepreneurship requires you to step out of your comfort zone, every single day. While a traditional job may provide the comfort of a steady paycheck, a set schedule, paid time off and more, entrepreneurship does not. Leaving the security of your full-time job certainly requires you to step out of your comfort zone, but that’s only the first step you have to take. As an entrepreneur, you must be comfortable with being uncomfortable all of the time. You have to be confident with making sacrifices, taking risks and trying new things. Entrepreneurship may require you to be uncomfortable, but it is also very rewarding if you are willing to step out from what you are used to.

YOU LIKE TO EARN YOUR OWN MONEY

When you work for yourself, you not only get to keep all of the money that you make, but you also get to decide what happens to that money. Whether you choose to reinvest your money back into your business or you decide to set aside a portion for your retirement, the choice is up to you. As an entrepreneur, you no longer have to work for the amount that other people decide to pay you, you determine how much you make as long as you are willing to work hard!

YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE AN INTROVERT

When you think of an entrepreneur, you probably don’t consider them to be introverted. Despite popular belief, introverts thrive as entrepreneurs as they aren’t afraid to work alone, they can focus for long periods of time, and they tend to think the details through. Each of these traits that an introvert possesses can lead to them to becoming successful entrepreneurs. This certainly doesn’t mean extroverts don’t make great entrepreneurs too, as they certainly do, but introverts have important traits that are often undervalued in the business world.

I can almost guarantee that at one time or another, everyone has thought about becoming an entrepreneur. If you find yourself considering this route, review these five things first to determine if you think you really have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
